Born into a carpet-making family, Jigme Wangchuk Lama is a third-generation rug maker. Exposed to this craft from a young age, he developed an innate understanding of colors and styles, and an instinct for producing outstanding textures.
He continues to be a passionate advocate for preserving and redefining Himalayan Heritage, and believes artists should also have a platform to showcase their ideas, talents and design.
Jigme Wangchuk Lama
Jigme Wangchuk Lama was born into a carpet making family, as a 3rd generation rug
maker. Growing up, exposed to the industry from a young age, he developed an
innate sense of color, style and instinct in creating brilliant textures. He
continues to be a passionate advocate for preserving and redefining Himalayan Heritage, and believes artists should also have a platform to showcase their ideas,
talents and design.
I strive to create the first modern Himalayan brand, which is renowned globally. Mt Refuge will serve as a role model for the next generation and work towards promoting and elevating Himalayan cultures and traditions, positively impacting the lives of employees and elevating the lives of all in our ecosystem.
Inspired by Himalayan Heritage
As the brand founder, Jigme hopes to inspire all kinds of artists, craftspeople and the next generation of entrepreneurs who come from similar backgrounds.
